[...] We’re proud to present this week’s Reinventing Television guest, Bre Pettis. Even though Bre doesn’t own a TV, he’s on the front lines of Reinventing TV. Bre Pettis runs Make Magazine’s podcast, producing video segments on people who make cool stuff like steam powered robots, and segments on how to make your own stuff. Make what kind of stuff, you ask? From Shadow Puppets, to a kite aerial photography rig, to a rodent powered nightlight, Bre’s videos show you how to Do It Yourself. And Bre has begun crossing over into traditional TV—He was just taped by the DIY Network cable channel. Bre likes to make stuff and he likes empowering other people to make stuff. Immediately prior to his gig at Make Magazine, Bre taught art and writing to kids. Naturally, he had them blogging and podcasting. And he made a video podcast to keep parents informed about the work their children were doing. If that isn’t reinventing television, I don’t know what is. Be sure to join me in picking the brains of this reinventor of television extraordinaire, Bre Pettis. [...]
